Production Planner

The Production Planner is responsible for developing a production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. The qualified individual will be responsible for providing the plant with a production plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast. The Production Planner is responsible for determining the desired inventory levels to meet both service and inventory targets. The sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations, and internal supply constraints will be used to develop production plans. Strong collaboration with the Shop Floor, Purchasing, Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Management will be critical to meeting business goals.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop run strategy of assigned products to optimize service, inventory, and efficiency
  • Determine constraints and initiate resolution steps with cross functional areas
  • Create production orders and monitor their status from release through completion
  • Expedite or defer orders as required
  • Maintain inventory at target levels while achieving service levels
  • Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development
  • Provide delivery commitments
  • Maintain material master system planning parameters (reorder points, lead time, safety stocks…)
  • Analyze short term constraints establishing recommendations for resolution. Work cross functionally to execute agreed solution
  • Collaborate with internal customers by providing a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options
  • Provide support for supply chain functions including shipping, receiving, material handling, and other duties as needed
  • Ensure and promote compliance to Company and Procurement policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate the DoALL Core Values daily
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business, or Logistics preferred
  • 2-3 years of previous experience in a Planner/scheduler role working for a direct manufacturer
  • Proven applied knowledge of MRP, inventory management, manufacturing
  • Highly Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal including follow-up skills.
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to self-direct and take constructive action in ambiguous situations
  • Analytical with methodical approach to problem solving
